Eatman

Detective Aimie: You were the only one who always watched over us.
Ten years ago you were eating bolts, exactly as you do now. Watching us with your sad eyes.

Bolt Crank. Well, here is the solution to my dilemma of liking to see both detail and the character's outfits... Make the cel of the character HUGE! While not my toughest scanning job, this one was way up on the list due to size. This and the cel below are also two of my most complete Eatman cels. This one has all cel layers (there are two), the matching background, the dougas to both cel layers, the rough genga, the clean genga, and the hand-drawn layout. Very complete cels like these are generally the favorites of my collection. This one is from the Mega-Mix story arc. (Original production background.)

Bolt Crank. Again from the Mega Mix story arc, this cel flashes by the screen so fast that it's practically a blur. It is panned from right to left and pauses on the left end. When I went to check if the background was matching, I couldn't even frame advance my DVD to a point that I could clearly see the city buildings on the right side of the cel. It is always amazing how many things are painted into these cels which are either never seen on the screen, or flash by so quickly that there would be no way to see them without stopping the video... or owning the cel. Culenne Garbo. The nice thing about episode specific characters is that it narrows down the search to find the cel in the video. This lady is from the first episode of the first season. She's the only character in the show that openly attempts to seduce Bolt, and I believe this is from that scene, although I haven't checked the video. As soon as I opened this cel's package, I was astounded by the strong, solid trace lines. I was sure they must have been retraced, but it appears they haven't been touched! Bolt Crank. I have little chance of identifying this exact cel. Maybe I'll try when I have my first season Eatman burned to DVDs, but there are so many frames in Eatman that look just like this... both in the first and the second season. As much as I like Eatman'98, I still think I like Bolt's first season look better, although the former looks much closer to the style of the Eatman manga. Either way, I wish there were more of it! Incidentally, I'm not sure what happened to the lines in this scan...

Please do not take and use images from this site. My cels were expensive to buy and I have put a lot of time into scanning them for use here.
